VALERIE PENG
Welcome! I'm a mechanical engineer that is passionate about startups and solving hard problems. The most interesting problems to me are humanity's core engineering problems: sustainable water, food, and energy.
In my latest role, I went from fresh-out-of-school Mechanical Engineer and Founding Engineer, to Director of Engineering of sustainable robotics startup Fyto. We spent 6 years pushing the boundary of aquatic plant production for local, on-farm protein production from dairy manure. In the process, we found out that the business case was harder than we thought, and we shut down the startup in Summer 2025.
I did my undergraduate and Masters degree at MIT in mechanical engineering with a minor in Entrepreneurship and a focus on precision machine design.
For fun, I like to race triathlons, play violin, do DIY projects, and foster dogs.
